Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ByDesign Development Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Daily Parent mobile apps, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). We are committed to being transparent about our data practices. We do not sell your personal information.
1. Who We Are
Daily Parent is developed and operated by ByDesign Development Inc., a corporation based in Ontario, Canada. References to "Daily Parent," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to ByDesign Development Inc.
This policy applies to Daily Parent's websites, mobile applications, and related services, including the Daily Parent iOS mobile app available on the Apple App Store and any future Daily Parent apps we release. There is no Android version of the App at this time.
2. Information We Collect
We collect limited information necessary to operate the Services and improve your experience. We do not currently require you to create an account or provide your name or email address to use the Daily Parent app.
2.1 App Information Collected Automatically
When you use a Daily Parent mobile app, certain technical and usage information may be collected automatically through our analytics and monetization partners:
- Device information - device model, operating system version, app version, device language and region settings
- Usage events - which screens you visit, which features you interact with, how long sessions last, button taps, and filter selections (e.g., parent type selected)
- Crash and diagnostic data - error logs to help us identify and fix bugs
- Advertising identifier (IDFA) - your device's advertising ID, if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt
- IP address - used to derive approximate country/region for analytics; not stored in identifiable form beyond our third-party processors
2.2 Website Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website, we may collect technical and usage information through standard web logs, cookies, and PostHog analytics:
- Device and browser information - browser type, device type, operating system, screen size, language settings, and referring pages
- Website usage information - pages viewed, approximate time on page, clicks, scroll activity, and navigation paths through the website
- Approximate location - country, region, or city inferred from your IP address
- Cookie identifiers - pseudonymous identifiers used to distinguish visits and sessions
We use website analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site, improve page content, diagnose technical issues, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing. We do not use PostHog on the website to identify you by name.
2.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Our website may use:
- Necessary cookies - required for basic website functionality, security, or preferences
- Analytics cookies - used by PostHog to help us measure website traffic and usage patterns
PostHog may use first-party cookies or local storage identifiers to distinguish visits, persist session state, and connect related website events. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Where required by law, we will request consent before placing non-essential analytics cookies. If you decline analytics cookies, the website should still function, though our analytics may be less complete.
2.4 Information You Provide to Us
If you contact us by email, join a waitlist, or use a form on our website, we may collect your name, email address, message content, waitlist preference, and any other information you choose to provide. We use this information to respond to your request, send the waitlist update you requested, and keep appropriate business records.
2.5 Purchase and Subscription Information
If you purchase a subscription or any in-app purchase through the App:
- Apple processes all payments and handles your financial information directly. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment details.
- Our subscription management provider (RevenueCat) receives anonymized purchase metadata such as your Apple App Store subscriber ID, subscription status, entitlement level, and purchase timestamps.
- Our paywall platform (Superwall) records which paywalls you have seen, whether you converted, and related A/B test assignment data, linked to an anonymous device identifier.
2.6 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Some information is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Your selected parent type filter and in-app preferences
- Affirmation content (bundled within the app)
- Any favourites or settings you configure
2.7 Information We Do Not Collect
Through the current version of the Daily Parent app, we do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any other directly identifying contact information
- Location data beyond approximate country/region
- Health or medical information
- User-generated content (there is no text input or social feature in the current version of the App)
2.8 Email Communications (Future Feature)
When user accounts are introduced, if you create a Daily Parent account, we will collect your email address and may send you the following types of emails:
- Transactional emails - account confirmation, password reset, purchase receipts, and other messages necessary to operate your account. These are sent regardless of your communication preferences.
- Onboarding emails - a short welcome series to help you get the most out of Daily Parent after you sign up.
- Re-engagement emails - occasional messages encouraging you to return to the App, highlighting new affirmations, features, or content.
- Product update emails - notifications about new features, subscription changes, or important App updates.
By creating an account and accepting these Terms, you acknowledge that an existing business relationship is established and that we may contact you at the email address associated with your account for the purposes above. This is consistent with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and similar laws.
Unsubscribe: Every non-transactional email we send will include a clear and functional unsubscribe link. You can opt out of re-engagement and marketing emails at any time. We will honor all unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, as required by CASL. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect your ability to use the App or receive transactional messages about your account or purchases.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis for sending re-engagement emails, balancing our interest in communicating with our users against your right to privacy. You may object to this processing at any time by unsubscribing.
3. Third-Party Services and Data Processors

5. Legal Basis for Processing
ByDesign Development Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada and is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
Where applicable (e.g., for users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom), we rely on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- Contract performance - processing necessary to provide the Services and subscription you have purchased
- Legitimate interests - product analytics, website analytics, responding to requests, and bug diagnostics, where our interest in improving the Services does not override your rights
- Consent - where required (e.g., advertising identifier access via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework or analytics cookies where consent is required)
6. Data Retention
We retain analytics and usage data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, generally no longer than 24 months from the date of collection, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
PostHog data retention settings may vary by event type and configuration. We configure analytics retention only for as long as reasonably needed to understand website performance and improve the Services.
Purchase and subscription records may be retained longer as required for financial, tax, or legal compliance purposes.
Messages you send us may be retained as long as needed to respond, resolve your request, and maintain appropriate business records.
Data stored locally on your device remains there until you delete the App or clear the App's data through iOS settings.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers - as described in Section 3, we share data with providers such as PostHog, RevenueCat, Superwall, and Apple solely to operate and improve the Services
- Legal compliance - if required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- Business transfers - in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will provide notice of any such change
- Protection of rights - where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of ByDesign Development Inc., our users, or the public
8. International Data Transfers
Our third-party service providers, including PostHog and our app service providers, may store and process data in countries other than Canada, including the United States. These countries may have different data protection laws than Canada. We rely on contractual safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable) to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.
9. Children's Privacy
Daily Parent is intended for users aged 13 and older. The App is designed for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
